Call of Duty Players Will Soon Be Able to Play as Nicolas Cage

Activision is bringing Nicolas Cage to Black Ops 7 and Warzone as part of Season 4 Reloaded. Screenshots of the Operator appeared online ahead of the update and quickly started making the rounds across gaming communities.

The reveal produced exactly the kind of response you'd expect from a Nicolas Cage crossover. Some players immediately started making jokes, others began asking how much the bundle would cost, and plenty of people simply wanted to know whether the screenshots were real. Within a few hours, the character had become one of the most discussed topics surrounding the update.

The Choice Caught Players Off Guard

Not because Call of Duty is doing another crossover. That stopped being surprising a long time ago. The unexpected part was Nicolas Cage himself. He's not promoting a new game, doesn't belong to a major franchise connected to Call of Duty, and wasn't someone frequently mentioned in community wishlists. His name appeared, and suddenly everyone had an opinion.

Part of that comes from how different audiences know him for completely different reasons. Some remember him from action movies, others from recent horror films, while many younger players mostly know him from years of memes and viral clips.

Most Discussions Have Nothing To Do With Gameplay

Season 4 Reloaded brings more than a celebrity Operator. New content, rewards, and seasonal additions are also arriving with the update. Yet most conversations online aren't focused on any of that. The screenshots of Cage generated far more attention than patch details or gameplay changes. Threads discussing the Operator quickly grew larger than discussions about the rest of the update.

Players are already posting mock loading screens, edited promotional images, and predictions about possible voice lines. Before the content is even available, the crossover has effectively become the face of the entire update.

A Strange Headline That Somehow Feels Normal

Years ago, "Nicolas Cage joins Call of Duty" would have sounded like a fake headline from a parody website. Now it barely feels unusual. Call of Duty has spent years filling its seasonal updates with guest characters, crossover events, and celebrity appearances. After seeing enough of them, players stop asking whether something belongs in the game and start asking when it will arrive.

That's probably why the response this time feels so relaxed. People aren't shocked that Nicolas Cage is coming to Call of Duty. They're already wondering who Activision will add after him.
